My Story

I am currently a counseling intern in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Central Michigan University, where I anticipate graduating in the spring of 2026. I’ve always been passionate about understanding people and supporting their growth, which led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University and pursue a Master of Arts in Counseling at Central Michigan University. My journey has been shaped by a deep curiosity about human behavior and a commitment to creating inclusive, empathetic spaces for healing. As a counseling intern, I’m excited to continue learning and growing in this field, especially in areas that uplift underrepresented voices and honor diverse cultural experiences. I am dedicated to supporting individuals across a broad spectrum of identities, backgrounds, and life experiences, recognizing the unique strengths and challenges each person brings. Each step in my path has reaffirmed my commitment to helping others navigate life’s challenges with compassion and resilience.

I particularly enjoy working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face while honoring their identities and experiences. I believe that fostering cultural awareness is essential in building trust and creating a safe, inclusive space for healing and growth. It's really important to me that you feel represented and understood.

My philosophy of counseling is grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery when provided with a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment. I strive to meet you where you are, honoring your unique identity, values, and cultural background. I believe in empowering you by helping you build on your strengths, develop resilience, and gain insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I primarily draw from Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). PCT guides my approach to building a strong therapeutic alliance through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness so that you feel heard and supported.  However, I also appreciate how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can provide practical tools for helping you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, promoting meaningful change. As an intern, I look forward to learning more counseling theories like play therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as I find what fits me as a counselor and how best to help my clients.

I look forward to building meaningful connections with you and walking by your side as you navigate life's challenges.
